Is the WWE Ready to Launch a Women’s Royal Rumble?

So, I heard a rumor stating that the WWE is considering the creation of a Women’s Royal Rumble match sometime in the near future. Let me tell you right here that I am totally for the creation of a Women’s Royal Rumble match because, right now, the WWE has some of the best talent on the Women’s rosters on RAW, Smackdown and NXT than I have ever seen in the company’s history. This is not to take away from women like Alundra Blaze, Chyna, Lita, Trish Stratus, AJ Lee, or a number of amazingly talented women that have been in the WWE over the years, but can you really say that with the sheer amount of talent on the roster today that this is not the greatest the Women’s Division has ever been.

Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Emma, Mickie James, Asuka, Natalya, Naomi, Ember Moon, Kairi Sane, Nikki Cross, Sonya Deville… there is a long list of women that the WWE has at their disposal to hold a 20 Women Royal Rumble match if they so choose to. And the prize for winning the Women’s Royal Rumble match could be the same as the men’s version of the match: a title shot at either the RAW or Smackdown Women’s Champion – winner’s choice.

I’m pretty sure the fans would be up to it. I know my wife and friends are definitely keen on the WWE holding a Women’s Royal Rumble match. It would be epic. I know there have been Women’s Battle Royale matches in the past, but when you think of a Battle Royale compared to a Royal Rumble, even though they are fundamentally the same kind of match, the Royal Rumble match just has that added flair and mystique about it. Not knowing which Women’s Superstar will come out from the back when the time limit is up. Waiting to see what surprise entrant will join the match next. Those are things that make the Royal Rumble a great match. And I think it is high time for a Women’s version of the Royal Rumble to take place. And at the annual Royal Rumble live pay-per-view event, no less. Let the women share in the same glory as the men. Lord knows their division is a lot more entertaining than most of the Men’s division is at the moment.

Just add in the same elements that make the Men’s Royal Rumble so awesome. I don’t know if the WWE has enough for a 30 Women Royal Rumble, but they certainly have enough for a 20 Women version. Take eight women from the Smackdown Women’s roster, eight women from the RAW Women’s roster, and four surprise entrants from the NXT Women’s roster and you have yourself a 20 Women Royal Rumble. Have it set to a 90-second entrant intervals and space out the entrants to bring in the women from each brand evenly, and just imagine the kind of surprise entrants you could have during the match. Dancing with the Stars should be ending around that time, so you could possibly have Nikki Bella make a surprise return during the match. If Paige hasn’t been cleared to wrestle before then, have her come out during the match. Surprise the audience by having Nikki Cross or Kairi Sane from NXT enter the match. It can be done.

I’m not saying that the WWE will actually go through with the idea of a Women’s Royal Rumble match, as I said, it’s just a rumor – I’m just saying it can be done; and that the WWE Universe would be behind the idea. Already, since the Women’s Revolution began, we have seen the Diva’s Division renamed the Women’s Division, we have seen the first Women’s Hell in a Cell match, and we have seen the first Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match. So, why not add to this historic time the first Women’s Royal Rumble match? Come on, WWE – your loyal fans are waiting for this match to happen, so give us what we want and show the WWE Universe that you are willing to go that extra mile to deliver the kind of sports entertainment we know you can deliver.
