A Call to Action: Support Jelly Vampire on Kickstarter

In 2015 Maytal Gilboa founded Emet Comics as a platform to promote female creators from all over the globe. She has been instrumental in launching the careers of artists like Veronica Fish who worked on The Wendy Project and Jenn St-Onge whose first comic book was Finding Molly: An Adventure in Catsitting. She and Emet Comics picked up and committed to continuing Fresh Romance when its previous publisher, Rosy Press, went under, and she has be able to accomplish this with your help of her readers and supporters – because the fans have shown up when Emet Comics has launched Kickstarter campaigns in the past and have enabled the publisher to fund the creation of their books.

And now they are asking for your help once again. Recently, Maytal Gilboa and Emet Comics have taken a chance with a new creator named Ida Neverdahl, a Norwegian cartoonist and illustrator whose work has been featured on Vice, has no industry connections in the US or a long legacy of artists in her family. Gilboa even states that both of Neverdahl’s parents are doctors. Despite this, at the young age of 24, Ida has published three books, been featured on Vice, and had a web comic go viral – all this on her sheer talent and work ethic alone. And looking at her previous works, you can see just how amazingly talented Neverdahl is – and that is why Gilboa and Emet Comics are willing to help her with this new Kickstarter campaign for her new series, Jelly Vampire.

Ida Neverdahl

Gilboa and Emet Comics have spent the past couple of months working with Neverdahl to create and launch this Kickstarter campaign and it is on the cusp of being funded, but it needs your help as it nears the end of its campaign. With just over a week to go, it has nearly reached its funding goal but needs the help of you, the comic book fans, to successfully reach its goal. As of this morning, the campaign has received slightly over $10,000 of its $15,000 funding goal and is on the verge of being a success. And if the past comics that Emet has published is any indication, I believe that Jelly Vampire will be another top notch series for the publisher.

Series like Fresh Romance, The Wendy Project, Finding Molly: An Adventure in Catsiting, Zana, The Loop, HelenaRose, VeronaSpoilerland… all are high quality comics that deserve more attention than they have received but are certainly the very definition of indie darling creations. The vision, the uniqueness, the individuality, and the storytelling found in these past Emet Comics publications is indicative of the kind of quality comics they are producing, and I don’t see why Jelly Vampire would be any different.

So, please take a minute to check out the Jelly Vampire Kickstarter campaign and pledge your support. If you believe in the importance of indie comics, if you want a different kind of storytelling style in your comic book series, if you crave something different than the usual kind of books that are produced month after month, then please, help support Jelly Vampire, Emet Comics, and Ida Neverdahl and bring this new series to life by helping it reach its funding goal.
