Synopsis: Forced to attend the Surmata run Suoja Guild, Evie finally has hope for a better life. But her new freedom comes at a cost. Dark forces work against her, even within the safe walls of the demon hunter’s school. With her father still on the loose, Evie must be extra diligent to watch her back. When her friend Maximilian introduces her to his housemates, she can’t fight the sense of déjà vu she feels whenever she’s near them. Humans and Suramata can’t be together, so why does it feel so right to be with them? – Amazon
This second book in the series was a great continuation. We get to see how the ending from book one changes Evie‘s life and sets her on a path towards so much more than what she had planned for her life. She’s happy for the change and it’s clear that she is somehow meant to do important things. I really loved the interactions she gets to have with the Shadewolf Kaveri.
Cyne and Dash have more chemistry with her at first, they have an idea already about how important she is to them. Jaxon, Aaron, Xander get to spend more time with her and you can see how each one falls for her. Jaoel is a tricky one because at times he seems to like her but then he’ll blow up and be very mean. There was a time or two I really wanted to smack him myself for how mean he was to Evie. We soon find out there may be a reason for his actions.
I’m glad we also see some sort of progress with Max and Caleb and their Soul mate Cammie. Though I have to say Cammie is a bitch and hopefully whatever is going on gets fixed. I really felt for them in the first book and my feelings just were stronger in this one for them. I’m glad Evie and Max are best friends and it’s so funny to see Caleb get so protective of Max especially with Evie since he knows that they are just best friends. They are so cute and I can’t wait to see how their problem gets fixed.
I just can’t get over how awesome this book was, I seriously could not put it down and I just never wanted it to end. I am now currently dying to see how this story plays out. There’s still so much to learn and with all the questions we had from Book one, some were answered but more were thrown in. Now that’s not a bad thing, it just makes me want more. I was almost crying when I realized I hate come to the end of the book, In the words of Cyne “Son of a biscuit eater!” popped into my head.
