Hey everyone. Once again, I want to welcome you back to Cosplay Spotlight. I know it has been a while since we had this feature here on gXp – thanks to my continuing bi-polar disorder – but it is a feature that I want to continue on here because of my love for the art of cosplay itself. As a former cosplayer going back to the early 1990s and a continuing lover of the craft to this day, the Cosplay Spotlight feature is one that is near and dear to my heart – especially as I feel very close to the community and those involved in it; both older cosplayers and newer ones from all around the world.

In this piece, I want to introduce you all to Carolina Angulo – a cosplayer from the Dominican Republic that I came across recently on Facebook and deviantArt. To be completely honest with you all, the way I initially came across her cosplay creations was because I saw a picture of her in a belly dancers outfit, as she is a professional dancer in her native country and specializes in belly dancing as a troupe alongside other members of her family. And, to be even more honest, I found her to be extremely sexy and sultry and wanted to see more pictures of her. And that’s when I came across her cosplaying images.

Seeing her in various cosplay outfits, I was taken aback at both her skill in creating costumes (thanks to her years in making her own outfits as part of her dancing troupe) and how incredibly beautiful she looks in each of her costumes. Of course, she definitely knows how to pick out each outfit she wears to accentuate her physical beauty (something that she uses much to her advantage), but it only serves to show off how she brings each costume she wears to life in the way she portrays each character she cosplays as.

So, while I initially had interest in Carolina because of her sex appeal, and I fully acknowledge that, it was her skill as a cosplayer and her friendly personality in the exchanges that I have had with her on her dA Gallery page (both in comments and from discussing this article with her) that made me a new and enduring fan of her work.
