Anime Expo, Day 4: 10 Interesting Things We Want to See

With Anime Expo 2018 rapidly approaching, and the schedule for the event finally being released, we here have finally got a chance to scope out what panels, events, and showings we want to attend during the 4-day event. But with so many things going on during each day, it’s kind of hard to nail down what things we want to attend and cover while we are there. And even when we can decide on what we want to see, with so many things going on sometimes at the same time, deciding what to go to can be a real issue – even for a 4-person team like we have here at gXp. But, at least for the moment, we have set down a list of 10 panels, events, and showings that we think would be the most interesting… well, at least for us. So, in this final part of our 4-part post, we focus on Sunday, Day 4 of Anime Expo 2018.

  • Fandom Saved My Life: Mental Illness Through Fandom
    Sunday, July 8 @ 10 AM
    LACC – Live Programming 4 (Rm 411)

As someone who has dealt with depression and bipolar disorder most of their life, Richard can relate to the subject matter at hand here and wants to see how it affected others as well.

  • Kotobukiya Summer Update 2018
    Sunday, July 8 @ 11 AM
LACC – Live Programming 5 (Rm 404 AB)

We’re huge fans of the Kotobukiya figures and collectibles that are released, so we want to be there to hear all the latest news from the company.

  • Good Smile: Expand Your Figure Posing Potential
    Sunday, July 8 @ 11 AM
LACC – Live Programming 1 (Petree Hall – Live Streamed)

This panel again falls into our love for figures and collectibles and we want to hear from the one of the biggest manufactures of these items at AX this year.

  • FUNimation Presents Attack on Titan Season 3 Panel and World Premiere
    Sunday, July 8 @ 11:30 AM
LACC – Main Event (Hall B)

It’s the Attack on Titan Season 3 premiere! ‘Nuff said.

  • UDON Artist Draw-Off + Special Announcements
    Sunday, July 8 @ 11:30 AM
    LACC – Workshop 1 (Rm 403 AB)

We are huge fans of the creative minds and artist over at UDON Entertainment, so we want to be at this panel to see what news they have in store for their fans.

  • Diversity in Voice Acting
    Sunday, July 8 @ 12:30 PM
LACC – Live Programming 1 (Petree Hall – Live Streamed)

With the issue of diversity being a hot topic at the moment, we’re curious to see how this affects the anime VO landscape going forth.

  • King Records Industry Panel
    Sunday, July 8 @ 2 PM
LACC – Live Programming 5 (Rm 404 AB)

As one of the largest record companies in Japan, and the sheer number of varying artists signed to them, we want to see what new music news from Japan they are going to share with the AX crowd.

  • Convention Photos: Do or Do Not
    Sunday, July 8 @ 3 PM
    LACC – Workshop 1 (Rm 403 AB)

Dezi is our resident photographer, but Richard still needs a few pointers here and there that he hopes he can mix with the knowledge he has learned from Dezi to be a better photographer himself.

  • “Play Anime!” Hosted by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc.
    Sunday, July 8 @ 3:30 PM
LACC – Live Programming 1 (Petree Hall – Live Streamed)

We’re not quite sure what to expect from “Play Anime”, but it is being hosted by one of our favorite publishers, Bandai Namco, so we’re curious what this is all about.

  • Designing Characters from Inside A Japanese Game Development Studio
    Sunday, July 8 @ 3:30 PM
    LACC – Live Programming 4 (Rm 411)

Again, as fans of the creative and behind the scenes aspects of the community, this panel just screams at us to attend.
